Judy W: Please add my job situation to the prayer requests. I am hoping for a job at a Chiropractic and Training Facility in Frisco...the Zoom Performance Center...a friend of mine recommended me for an office position there and they seem to be interested in me...I think I would like to work there...But let's see if God wants me to work there???...so please help me pray for His will and guidance to the job He has chosen for me???
Also, I will be having surgery on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 7:30 a.m. It is for a bladder repair and abdominal scar revision. The surgery will be at Medical City and my doctor's are brothers Dr.s Mark and David Godat. Please pray that God guides their hands skillfully and my both of my surgeries are successful. Also that my recovery is speedy and relatively pain free. I have a tendency to have trouble with anesthesia, so pray that I have no complications with that as well.
Praise God that my son is still Clean and Sober. Praise God that He has continued to provide for us and keep us in food and shelter. This has truly been a "loaves and fishes" experience. I do not know how we keep going, but we do!!! He has provided more than I ever thought possible without me having a job!!!
Sorry my request is so long. Have a blessed day!!!
Requests from 6/20/10:
Saundra and Jon H: I pray for the health of my husband. I pray for success beyond anything I could imagine for our business and church. We pray for understanding of others unlike ourselves.
Carly L: May my God give wisdom to my ex husband. In Jesus' name.
Steve C: Praise; continued healing for my dad, he's able to eat and they removed feeding tube; God is good!
Adventure Kids Event: Praise; Over a dozen neighborhood families attended and new emails received/ they are interested in receiving information about the church. We are now planning for an event August 21 called "Pencils in the Park; which will be a back to school pancake breakfast. We have also secured October 30 for "Kids in Kostumes" party. Praise God our kids program is growing and our children's director is a true gift to us.
SLC: Prayers for provision regarding the expense budget. Summer is here and attendance and offerings have been light. A building campaign letter will be going out on Saturday. May those that receive it, prayerfully consider supporting this mission and outreach programs. In order to move into a Summit Space we can call our own; we will need to raise $50k. There is a beautiful space available along Midway Rd. - now we need the resources to be able to claim it. Please pray that if this is where God desires us to be, and if this is the time to do so, that He will provide all that is needed to accomplish it. Pray for Pastor Mike as he leads us to touch hearts, transform minds and train disciples. Pray for Xchanged Life Ministry as more and more families and marraiges are in need of healing and hope. We need more Team Summit members so that we can train them to walk others through the process of Xchanged Life. Pray for our family as we leave for vacation to the mountains (where the name Summit was given to us by God last year!) May God continue to speak to both of us as we climb mountains together for the Lord! Amen.
Requests from 6/13/10:
Carly L: Lord, bless my ex husband with wisdom. In Jesus' name.
Anonymous: For the success of my husband's business. For clear direction for my work path. For daycare for our child. For my husband to attend his dr's appt.

"Limping into your legacy" Micah 4:6-8 Sermon 6.13.10
“Limping into your Legacy”
“Can God still use me?” That is a question most of us have asked along the journey of our life. Each of us has fallen short of perfection and it is tempting to believe we are ‘unusable’ because of our shortcomings. So let me ask you:
- Who do you think God will use?
- If it’s not you… then who?
- Who did Jesus give authority to – who did He leave in charge?
- When Jesus said “it is finished” He was saying, “My part is over… now it’s your turn…”
Your legacy awaits but depends on your ability to walk with a limp. Will you let your limp to cause you to stumble again or will you embrace the possibility of greatness despite it?
Micah is the writing of a “vision” from the LORD. It is a series of 3 messages against the Northern and Southern kingdoms (the only prophet to do so). The three accusations against God’s people (Universal to all people) are; “Oppression of the poor by the rich, corrupt leaders of the nation, and finally – those who are spiritually depraved.”
Regardless of the accusations against the world – no matter how tattered it becomes, an elect remnant of chosen people will be forgiven and saved by God so as to triumph over Satan and his minions.
So who are the people God will use (who is the remnant)… Let’s begin with who they are not?
- There are not going to be the ones with the best acumen: 1 Cor 1:20 – “Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”
- They won’t be the tallest or best looking: 1 Samuel 16:7 – “Do not look on his appearance of on the height of his stature… For man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- They won’t be the people who “think they are it”: Matthew 7:22-23 - “On that day many will say to me, “lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in you name? And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me you workers of lawlessness.”
- Finally, they won’t be mainstream: Matthew 11:7-11 – Jesus spoke, “what did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? (someone easily molded by the expectations of the civilized) A man dressed in soft clothing? (someone who lives to impress).
So who will they be? What will they look like? How will you know them?
Micah 4:6-8
“In that day, declares the LORD, I will assemble the lame and gather those who have been driven away and those whom I have afflicted; and the lame I will make the remnant and those who were cast off, a strong nation; and the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion form this time forth and forevermore.”
Yes, contrary to the popular notion that “God is coming back for a prosperous, beautiful, and successful church”. The remnant, those who will be used by God to usher in His kingdom to earth will be the LAME. Literally, they will walk with a limp.
Why will they walk with a limp? Because, God has afflicted them. The idea is that God has allowed suffering and pain not to overwhelm them – but rather to remind them. God allows suffering and pain not in the sense that he “approves” of it… but rather in the sense that he has a purpose for it. Our job is to hang on.
Each of us will limp and suffer – 1 Peter 4:15-16 – “If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or a thief or any kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.”
What’s he saying? We are going to suffer a measure of pain in our life (period). There is a dual message here; first, don’t do stupid and suffer because of it… but even deeper – “if you are a murderer, thief or criminal… you can stop suffering anytime. Yes, there are consequences… but suffering? That is up to you.
It’s like this, Let’s say I loose my ability to see because I chose to drive drunk and my face hit the windshield. Now because I can’t see I have a choice; First, I can choose to continue to suffer believing I am limited and have ruined my ability to be used by God – “I am getting what I deserved” Which is not a biblical – Jesus did not demonstrate this. Second, I can choose to stop suffering, accept my affliction and be used by God despite it.
If that suffering is because of sin (usually is), that suffering is going to be used against us to steal our destiny.
That is the intent of Satan. To remind you of your failure and your limp.
- “You’ll never recover from that.”
- “If you ever open your heart again it will be crushed like last time.”
- “How can you ever be trusted after what you have done – no one will ever trust you.”
Do you have a limp?
- This is not a contest about whose affliction is worse… This is about whether or not you are willing to embrace your limp and bring comfort to others who have been afflicted. This is about whether or not you are willing to be healed by God. It’s common to be deceived into thinking that somehow you “deserve this affliction”. It’s not so much whether or not you deserve it (Jesus did not deserve the pain he endured) it is whether you are able to be content in it
“…I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need,” – the secret is contentment - Philippians 4:12
Contentment is not “joyful exuberance”, it is not “elation or a prideful display” – contentment is a constant resolve of possibility despite what circumstances arise.
Let me ask you… can others see your limp?
If you’re still trying to hide your limp… Why? You believe you deserve it / Shame / fear / or it may be because you’re not ready to be healed.
Do you think that the remnant in the book of Micah tried to hide the fact that they were lame? In truth… they couldn’t.
ILLUSTRATION:
My Grandfather was lame (literally) – he hurt his back in WW2. Though he did not walk with a cane he suffered many days and as his grandson I could see it in his eyes. He did not use his pain as an excuse for poor behavior. He didn’t hide it from the perspective of shame or guilt – rather he tried to hide it because he did not want it to be a hindrance to living life fully – to fulfilling his destiny (playing with his grandchildren).
I used to joke about how he hurt his back – he drove his jeep into a pit because his base was under “lights out” policy and he could not see the massive hole. But now… as I consider his limp I don’t joke about it any more.
Was he grateful for his bad back… I would say yes. Why? Because it was a constant reminder of his willingness to serve his commanding officer – of his willingness to follow orders despite fear.
You see – when he entered the army he made a commitment to stay the course and follow orders… and he did… even when he could not see what was ahead. Because of his willingness to stay the course - When he died he was buried in the national cemetery in Minnesota – full honors.
You see, each of us has a limp. The question is; have you determined to follow orders.
Today, are you walking with a limp? Let me tell you – that’s OK. It’s OK to walk with a limp as long as you don’t let it steal your destiny. God will keep on guiding you with His counsel to lead you.
Because of your limp there may be perceived limitations that you or society have placed on your life: A limp is not a limitation.
- In Christ there are no limitations… all things are possible.
Adultery = Rahab and David.
Paul = accessory to murder
Extortion = Matthew
Jacob (the “deceiver”) was lame. (Genesis 32:24-29) He wrestled with God all night and despite having his hip dislocated he held on until he received His blessing from God and fulfilled his destiny. Jesus fulfilled His destiny with a limp; hands nailed to a cross, side pierced by a spear, head bleeding, back laden with wounds. If anyone had an excuse to let go… Jesus did.
But he didn’t; “for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…”
What was the joy set before him? YOU! He saw you and that brought him joy. For a moment close you eyes and imagine seeing the eyes of Jesus.
· No condemnation, no ridicule, no disappointment.
· What do His eyes say, “Hold on… your limp is only temporary – your destiny is eternal.”
Jacob was lame the rest of his life after his encounter with God. Every time he walked he was reminded of that night. He didn’t let his limp prevent him from fulfilling his destiny for God. He became a great nation and we are his descendants.
He held on to his faith, and at the end of his life… as he was dying… he reached out, placed his hands on his sons and blessed them… ALL THE WHILE LEANING ON HIS STAFF. (Hebrews 11:21) So what is your limp?
Why am I telling you this?
Because the world is looking for a group of people who limp… but their limp is not their limitation.
There are some here ready to let go – we want to pray for you.

"Doing right for the wrong reasons" - Jonah
Jonah
“Doing right for the wrong reasons”
The purpose of the prophets was to disclose God’s will to Israel. Because divination was forbidden the true and legitimate means by which God’s will would be delivered to His people was through the voice of the prophets (Deuteronomy 18:15-22)
The role of the prophet was to take the “Palestinian Covenant” (Deuteronomy 28-30) the specific promises and warnings of God then ‘speak over’ the people with the violation and corresponding judgment of God.
- They were the “holy spirit” of the day. Their words brought about conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment.
While their messages are pointed and “harsh”, giving a picture of ‘doom and gloom’ since their words are from the immutable and eternal God of all comfort and grace the prophets would supply a glimmer of hope.
Each prophet has essentially 4 basic elements:
- Rebellion – willful disobedience.
- Consequence
- A description of the coming judgment / repentance
- A promise of future deliverance and restoration
The book of Jonah is unique in that the focus is not on the message of the prophet to the people the focus is on the prophet himself.
The pattern is still similar:
- Rebellion
- Consequence (swallowed by a fish)
- Repentance
- However, Jonah was not restored (at least we are not told here)
The theme of the book is that God is concerned for all people, not from a universalistic perspective but rather from a term called “common grace” – that some of God’s blessings in this life are given to all people in general, not just believers.
Describe the story… of Jonah.
Jonah is a foreshadowing of the new covenant and the enlargement of the kingdom to include Gentiles that is spoken of throughout the NT.
- It is the seeming unfairness of bringing hope to those who don’t deserve it that is the issue.
In the OT obedience (love) was a matter of merely following the law – the dos and don’ts – the heart (mind, will and emotions) did not play a part.
- “I don’t care how it gets don’t… just get it done.”
In the NT there is a shift in obedience, from law to grace, and while there is still a list of dos and don’ts – the focus UNDER GRACE is not on “getting it done” the focus NOW is on WHY it get’s done = the heart.
- “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.” (1 Peter 1:22)
In today's culture the cry of a legalistic obedience is far reaching:
· “Just do it”
· “Make it happen”
· The ends justify the means
There is a bent towards law in every person – why? Because the law is easy, law is external, law removes any personal involvement, “It’s just the way it is…” I don’t have to care about you under the law I just do it because that is what I’m told to do.” But living under the LAW is unsustainable.
Grace, while more difficult (“do not murder” to “Don’t even think angrily”), is sustainable because the power comes from God. It does not make “sense”… but His ways are not my ways. Yet it is common to find a theology under grace that is bound in the heartless methods of the OT and we sit back and wonder why we are not living the victorious life promised by Christ.
Under law there are a number of motivational factors that cause people to obey – see if you recognize any of these in your own life:
- Fear – 1:5 – “Then the mariners were afraid…”
· Fear is a motivator that has it’s roots in intimidation…
· Intimidation is akin to witchcraft.
- Chance – 1:7 – “and the lot fell on Jonah.”
· “Time and chance happen to us all…” (Eccl 9:11)
· This is obedience from being caught. “Had it not been for that ‘lucky’ occurrence… I’m not sure I would have ever done it.”
- Desperation – 1:17 – “And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
· “In the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven… and gave them a savior who saved them from the hand of their enemies.” (Neh 9:27)
· Doing right out of desperation; the motivation is to “stop” whatever is taking place – not to initiate an encounter with God… not from faith = Romans 14:23 – “For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.”
o Doing right out of desperation often involves a short sighted decision hence, the choice is not “best” rather it is mediocre.
- Depression – 2:5 – “The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me...”
· Again, right behavior proceeds out of sin = Genesis 4:5 “but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell.” And the usual partner with obedience from depression is anger/bitterness.
- Pleasing people – while there is not a verse for reference imagine, if you will, the people of Nineveh.
· I’m sure they thought Jonah was a great guy
· He comes along (against anything they have ever seen) and “helps them”.
· I would imagine after he left they sat around and thought… “How good was that, that he would come and tell us…?”
· Never realizing that Jonah’s heart was far from them
· We do this when we are different in public than we are in private – different at church than we are at home.
While these factors may motivate us to obedience (to doing the right thing)… they do nothing to transform the heart.
- Still angry - 4:1 – “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.”
- Still defiant – 4:9 – “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”
Using the law in an effort to transform the heart is impossible = it was tried for hundreds of years… How many of you have tried to stop doing wrong and start doing right by creating a list of rules? Memorizing scripture is a method (law) like this.
- The bent toward rules for transformation is part of this culture.
· Our culture emphasizes concept and principal over experience.
· For instance, I can get an MBA and never be taught by a person who has owned their own business.
· The common thought is, "If I can “recite” it… then I must have understanding." Does anyone want to have a brain surgeon who can “recite” the procedure but has never experienced it?
· Understanding (knowing) something is not being able to recite it.
You see… being able to list off “what to do” does not change the heart. We have all been there; I CAN TELL you that doing this thing will ultimately lead to disaster, I know the steps to “get out” of this mess. Yet I continue to re-engage in the behavior or attitude. WHY? Because obedience that comes from a mind-set established on rules places us under the OT law. A graceless existence. (destined to repeat behavior)
- We cry out for grace, God says you’ve got it, we put methods in place, and God says you’re back under law… no grace.
Listen, I’m not saying that it is not necessary to have parameters like “fleeing evil” – what I am saying is that if I believe that fleeing evil is how victory is maintained = I have just walked away from experience and by doing so… cannot have grace or understanding. There comes a time in every person’s life when they must face their nemesis. No more running, no more hiding.
It is only when the enemy is defeated through experience that the heart is transformed.
- Choosing to trust.
- Releasing judgment and condemnation.
- Stopping/starting a behavior despite “what you think will happen”.
In the case of Jonah, while he did the right thing, his heart was far from God.
It is possible to “do the right thing” but not receive the blessing associated with it.
- Doing right… because you are told it is “right” has a few different results:
· It will last for a season – 4 months then it will arise again.
· It will harbor a spirit of resentment toward the law (lawgiver).
· There is no “joy in obedience” = no peace despite “doing the right thing”.
How to transform the heart to “right”.
- It is a matter of mind-set; living life from there to here.
- It is a matter of aligning you heart with what God declares.
- Why do right… because of what you have been given.
- If God did nothing else for you… it would still be enough = you have the promise of heaven.
- Jonah never “got it” and for all we know he lived a miserable life of rules he did not like and a life of misery.

What's up with... Speaking in tongues and Baptism on the Holy Spirit?
What’s Up With Speaking in Tongues – Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Since “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Cor14:33) – let’s examine together what the bible says. Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts given by the Holy Spirit in three sections of the bible:
1 Corinthian 12:7-11 = Manifestation Gifts = short, local.
Romans 12:6-8 = Ministry Gifts = for years, state/nation
Ephesians 4:11-12 = Gifts to Men = for decades, nation/world
NOTE: “Each of us should use whatever gift we have received to serve others…”
The group that causes division among Christians is the group found in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
This list comprises what Bible teachers commonly call the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. In the order listed:
• the word of wisdom
• the word of knowledge
• faith
• gifts of healing
• the working of miracles
• prophecy
• discerning of Spirits
• different kinds of tongues
• the interpretation of tongues
Within the universal church there are 3 camps that have set up their beliefs – each is confident that they have the “right” handle on the Gifts of the Spirit. However, not all can be right.
- Cessationists argue that the gifts are not = normal, not needed and not necessary. The spectacular works of the Spirit “ceased” with the apostles (or those they taught)
• John Calvin “Calvinist”
• Their primary verse is 1Cor 13:8-10
"Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away."
• No baptism of the Holy Spirit
• Evangelism: Since God has “predestined” whom He shall save – evangelism is not necessary other than in obedience to Christ’s command.
• Issue: the Intimate Immaculate – “God with us” – God’s nature is to be intimatelyinvolved in the lives of His children.
- Pentecostal/charismatic argue that the gifts are = normal, needed and necessary.
• their primary verse of argument is Acts 2:1-4
"When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance."
• A 2nd event following salvation where a person is “activated” and receives a baptism of the Holy Spirit manifesting itself in speaking in tongues.
• Evangelism: It is up to the church to bring the message of Christ to the nations. Romans 10:14 – “…how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”
• Issue: The words “baptism of the Spirit” does not occur.
• Consider Acts 8:14-17 (2nd baptism of the spirit???)
• Also – many do not believe in eternal security of the believer in many cases.
- Third wave argue that the gifts are = normal, needed but not always necessary.
• 1st wave – Azusa Street revival / 2nd wave 1960’s charismatic movement / 3rd wave mid 1980’s
• They use many of the verses that Pentecostal and charismatic argue including Ephesians 4:7-13 and Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold I am doing a new thing.”
• No baptism of the Holy Spirit as a 2nd work after salvation. Believe individuals are empowered with all gifts the moment of salvation.
• Believe in separate “fillings” of the Spirit but not baptism of the Spirit.
• Evangelism: Power Evangelism and Power Encounters. Jesus and the apostles met the needs of people by healing, casting out demons, and even raising the dead. These miracles made people interested in the Good News. This is how we should evangelize today. A Power Encounter happens when the Kingdom of God encounters the Kingdom of Satan. It is here when God shows his power over Satan and people turn to the Lord. Acts 5:16 – “the people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”
• Issue: Gnostic – “new revelation” – is God given “new revelation” or simply lifting the veil of something that has been there all along?
Speaking in tongues – 1 Cor 14:4,5 “The one who speaks in tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.”
- NOTE: tongues is for the individual
- “If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.”
• This brings up the issue of a “prayer language”.
* 1 Corinthians 14:14-15 – “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding in unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also;
Are Gifts and miracles for today?
- 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 – “ceased?”
• When will these gifts cease? = when perfection comes… when the Lord comes.
- Hebrews 2:3-4 – “only for apostles?”
• The reasoning is miracles confirmed apostles, only apostles worked gifts, when they died the gifts died.
• However, in Luke 10:1 – Jesus commissioned 70 to go out / 1 Cor 15:6 – Jesus appeared to 500 / Stephen worked miracles Acts 6:8 (associates of the “apostles”) / Miracles worked in the Galatian churches (Cal 3:5).
- Another argument against gifts is the “Signs are dead and demonstrate unbelief” - Matthew 16:1-4 – “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” – “a sing demonstrates lack of faith” – actually “unbelief”; 5 levels of faith; if you can, if you will, if he touches me, if I touch him, just say the word.
• The reasoning is we should not seek signs and the only sign needed for faith is the resurrection of Christ from the dead.
• However, this was spoken to the Pharisees and Sadducees who came to test Jesus. / Romans 15:18
– “For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit..”
NOTE;
Jesus calls them “hypocrites” - they have the capacity to discern the natural but are clueless to spiritual things. Because of the Holy Spirit we are able to discern “seasons”
The kingdom of God comes to us in two ways;
- violently (Mat 11:12 - the kingdom of heaven suffers has suffered violence and the violent take it take it by force)
- inheritance (Mark 10:15 – “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”)
It is VITAL to know the season whether by violence or as a child.
Why would God perform Miracles today think about this?
- God heals because it flows out of his compassion and nature – Matthew 14:14 – “"...and Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick." See also e.g. Mk.1:41-42; Mk.9:22; Luke 7:11-17; Matt.15:32. Is God less compassionate today?
- It brings glory to God. Concerning the sickness (which would result in the death) of His friend Lazarus, we read in John 11:4 "When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." See also e.g. John 11:40; Acts 3:12-13; Acts 4:21 NASB; Luke 5:24-26; 7:16; 13:13,17;19:37; John 2:11. Miracles of all sorts still bring glory to Christ and His Father.
- God's Word encourages faith, and He is pleased to respond to it. See for example Jesus' word to the woman who touched the edge of His garment "Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you." See also the following Scriptures. Acts 14:8-10; Matt.9:28; 8:2,3; Mark 9:22-23; Matt.21:21-22.
- God heals in response to his own promise. In James 5:14-16 we read "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick..." The validity of this promise I have already demonstrated from my own experience in the earlier part of this paper. Were those healings not from God?
So… '
- Where are the raising from the dead?',
- 'Why do some healings relapse?',
- 'Why are they not all instantaneous, as Jesus' were?'
- Or, 'Jesus never failed to heal' so why do we?
Recognize that there are degrees of effectiveness in other giftings, such as preaching and teaching. Then why do you not allow the same in the use of spiritual gifts? The Scripture does say that we 'prophesy according to the measure of our faith' (Rom.12:5).
As to why some healings relapse. There are a number of reasons. One such could be because of fresh sin. This reason is, moreover, Scriptural (John 5:14). Anyway, it is sheer assumption that Bible healings never relapsed.
As to Biblical healings all being instantaneous, was not the healing of the blind man by Jesus in Mark 8:22-26 in stages?
'Jesus never failed to heal'? Is the implication that we should be able to go in and empty hospitals? But we read in Matt.13:58 and Mark 6:5 that Jesus could do no mighty works there because of unbelief. Again, it was only one man Jesus chose to heal at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1ff.). Both in Jesus' day and Apostolic times there were many reasons for no healings or other miracles taking place.
Since “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Cor14:33) – let’s examine together what the bible says. Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts given by the Holy Spirit in three sections of the bible:
